Description
The Book of Psalms is an amazing gift to the church. The Psalms, more than any other book of the Bible, is designed to carry, express, and shape our emotions. Strings of My Heart album is a collection of psalms that are sung to contemporary music. We are always encouraged to read the psalms and have them ever present daily in our lives. By listening to this album we are able to incorporate the presence of the psalms in our daily lives without trying to find the time to read them. We can listen to the psalms as we drive or as we travel to work on public transport.
Asaph Tunes & St Mark Melodies presents to you this Album based on the psalms of King David. The psalms are a gift given to us by the Lord. Our rich Orthodox Church encourages us to pray the Psalms always. There are many references to praying the psalms in the New Testament and the early church Fathers often encourage to utilise the psalms in their prayers.
This is also a great way to encourage young people not only to listen to Christian music but memorise the psalms at the same time and filling their lives with the benefits of having the psalms ever present in their lives.
In producing this album we have worked together with St Mark’s melody to produce this collection of psalms. You can listen to this album and the all of our music on the Upper room Media app. You can download it for free from the app store on any platform. In Addition to Upper Room media you can listen to our music on all popular internet radio such as Spotify, iTunes radio and Google Play.
This is what St Athanasius has to say about the psalms:
“Such, then, is the help for mankind to be gained from the Book of Psalms. It is important not to pass over the question of why words of this kind are chanted with melodies. For some of the simple among us, although they believe indeed that the phrases are divinely inspired, imagine on account of the sweetness of sound that the psalms are sung for the sake of the ear’s delight alone. But this is not so. For Scripture did not just seek pleasant things; even these have been fashioned for the benefit of the soul. This is because it is fitting for Divine Scripture to praise God not in compressed speech alone, but also in the voice that is richly broadened”
– St Athanasius
