Description
The album I confess portrays all the feelings we as humans go through when we have done something that weighs down on our conscience. When we sin we go through a number of different emotions from guilt, to anger at ourselves to fear to shame to despair all these feelings are expressed in the songs of this album.
The contemporary Christian songs on this album remind us not to despair but to remember that there is hope in our Lord Jesus Christ who is waiting for us to come and fall into his embrace as we confess our sins and allow His love to wash over us and cleanse us.
The songs remind us of the peace and joy we feel when we finally allow Jesus to take away the burden of sin that we carry and we can rest in His peace and forgiveness which is achieved when we confess our sins. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins (1 John 1:8, 9) As Christ commanded us to forgive others without limit, by our repentance and confession, He forgives us without limit.
I Confess features a collection of songs that were composed and recorded by a group of talented young artists about the sacrament of Confession & Repentance. The songs in this album are from the 2014 Christian Music Competition. Some of the songs have been recorded again to maintain our quality. The theme of the competition was the sacrament of Confession and Repentance, hence the album title.
This is what St John Chrysostom teaches about confession:
“Do not be ashamed to enter again into the Church. Be ashamed when you sin. Do not be ashamed when you repent. Pay attention to what the devil did to you. These are two things: sin and repentance. Sin is a wound; repentance is a medicine. Just as there are for the body wounds and medicines, so for the soul are sins and repentance. However, sin has the shame and repentance possesses the courage” – St John Chrysostom
