Poem by Katherine Abdel-Malek
AS YOU HEALED
As You healed the woman with a flow of blood
Because in Your power she believed,
Likewise, if I touch Your tunic’s hem
Of my illness I will be relieved
As You touched the face of the man born blind
Created eyes and gave him new sight I have faith,
O Lord, You can open my eyes
And replace my darkness with light.
As You healed the centurion’s servant
Paralysed and greatly tormented
Unworthy to have You under my roof
Just say the word and I will be healed.
As You raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead
You went and raised her by the hand
Please come O Lord and take my hand too
Give me strength and help me stand
As Peter walked to You on the water
And in the depths began to drown
Save me, when the water comes to my neck
And lift me up when I fall down
As You went to the tomb where
Lazarus lay And from His death You made Him rise
Save me God, for my sins entomb me
From the depths to You my soul cries
As You looked with love on the Samaritan
Though she spent her life in pleasure and shame
Have mercy O Lord, on me, the sinner
With You my heart is aflame
